๐ฝ Canon Ef 24 105 Stm Review
The RF version is definitely Canons best 24-105 but I didn't have the EF version either. A jack of all trades is rarely a master of anything. I used to also have the sigma art version and that throng was super sharp. I ended up getting a 24-70 2.8 cuz I needed the extra stop light.
I currently have the Canon 18-135mm IS USM lens as my walk around lens. I am wondering if the Canon 24-105 F4 L lens would be better or not. I know I would be losing a bit in reach, but would the image quality and sharpness be that much better? If I went with the 24-105 lens, I would have to sell the 18-135 lens to help fund the new purchase.
Thankfully, the lowest-cost entry in the system, the Canon RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM ($399), makes the right compromises to net ample zoom range for everyday use, and is a fine complement to the
Focusing is performed by a Nano USM motor which proved to be very swift and accurate. Compared to the STM focusing motor on the RF 24-105mm STM, the 24-240 was visibly snappier at focusing. When focusing during movies, the camera slows down the process for a smoother-looking result. The Nano USM motors on the 24-240mm are also virtually silent.

At 50 mm my 24 -105 mm is very close to image quality of the EF 50mm F/1.8. reviewed November 17th, 2006 (purchased for $1,100) 9 out of 10 points and recommended by przemekszymbra (3 reviews)
If it helps you feel better, DXO say the real light transmission of the 24-105 L is averaging f5, two-thirds of a stop under what is quoted. Whereas the STM is 1/3 under quoted. The STM is almost a stop faster at 24mm, the lens transmission graphs begin to cross over at 50mm, and the STM ends up 2/3 stop slower at 105mm.
The Canon RF-S 10-18 f/4.5-6.3 IS STM has arrived and issued in the era finally where we can look at the RF-S system as a โsystemโ and not just APS-C Camera bodies with a couple of kit lenses. When the EOS-M first came out, the EF-M 11-22mm was โtheโ lens that got me interested in the system and I wasn't alone in that regard.
